Write like you have a mean boss

I was emailing a friend about all the writing I was doing. She said, “Boy, you are writing up a storm.” She’s right, and I’m loving it because after my most recent wife and I split, I determined I was going to hunker down, collect my social security and pension payments and pay myself to write. I’m submitting 2 plays to the competition. I thought about sending 3, but I realized I would be stretched that would stretch me too thin. Working on 2 plays stretches me a little thin, but then again, I can stand to lose a little weight.

So, I wrote to my friend, “I’m writing like I have a mean boss.” I believe, if I’m serious about my craft, I work on it and do what I need to do to be the best I can. I don’t know how long I have left upright on this earth, so I make sure that I go to bed each night confident that I have done everything I could do to make it happen.
