I’m not lazy

I’m not lazy about writing, just about posting to my blog. My mind is totally kidnapped by these three projects: getting more centers to host Troubles in Henry’s Nose: finishing up my novel, X Marks the Spot; and researching my new play, How Can I Tell You That I Love You. The problem is when I’m posting, I can’t be working on these three projects:

Project 1: Promoting Troubles in Henry’s Nose to Senior Centers. I’ve had some success--hostings in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. I’m in Connecticut now, and several centers there have expressed interest. I should be done with Connecticut by the end of the week and am off to Rhode Island.

Project 2: Finishing X Marks the Spot. The book is a “why dun it.” Tracks what happens to a small boy after he witnesses an act of deep violence. He tries to tell his parents, but they refuse to believe him. They accuse him of lying, or of making it up, or dreaming it, when he has never before lied. They also refuse to get him treatment. His life goes haywire as he tries to move ahead.

I’ve been working on this since forever ago. I like working on it which is one factor in not getting it done.

Project 3: How Can I Tell You That I Love You. A play about a transracial family that has a convulsion once the son, Jake, takes his aged father back into his home. The father, Bob White, retired realtor, is white. The children were adopted and African-American. Jake is a restaurant owner, and daughter K.C., is a prominent reporter for a major, international newspaper. Jake, 45, has a Mexican-American girlfriend. There’s a dog in it too, Sheltie, 4 years old, American pit bull mix, a rescue dog.

Each of these works is based upon events in my life. Which makes them both easier and harder to do.  I’ll try to be more diligent about posting.
