I’m BACK
I’ve been away a while. I entered two new plays into a playwrighting contest here on the Cape. the winner gets a free table reading and $1,000. I wasn’t in it for the money, thought $1,000 is nothing to sneeze at. Rather I wanted to get them read so I would have some feedback that would tell me they were the best that they could be (Not referring to the Army’s tag line.) But it was a kind of basic training for me. I’m always trying to be the best me I can be, an this is a very helpful process. I wasn’t on the road with Troubles in Henry’s Nose, either, and I plan to get back on to that.
While I was working so single-mindedly on the two new plays, I felt a bit like I was working again. I had to write to deadline, and I’ve decided that’s not for me. So, now I’m relaxed again. I’ll hear by 1 May whether I made the finals, and if so we get to do some readings to flesh them out. It always helps to to hear how my words sound coming out of other peoples’ mouths.
I’m sprucing up my play on Hector Berlioz (1803-1864), the first Romantic composer in case somebody wants a play on art or creativity. I learned a lot about my craft and how to do certain things by interacting with the two scripts I was building. See you soon.
