911

A year ago at this very time I was sitting at the gate at LaGuardia waiting for a flight from back to Madison, WI, where I lived then. Deb and I had been visiting her daughter and boyfriend in Brooklyn, and they'd arranged a car service for me. I had a mandatory work conference on Tuesday, so I had to go back. Deb was going to stay a few days longer. The flight had been delayed because the night before, 9/10, there had been a massive electrical storm which had cancelled all flights from all 4 NYC-area airports, and the pilot scheduling had gotten all screwed up. I was supposed to fly out at 8:30. My bags had already been checked through security and everything. Soon it was delayed again, then our bags were brought back, we were all kicked out of the airport, then we found out that the first of the towers hed been brought down. I saw the second one on TV in one of the airport lounges before we were evicted. That’d when everything changed.
