Thankfulness

A pastor on the Cape advertises his services on Fridays and Saturdays. Some of them I find inspiring. His most recent one quoted Marcus Aurelius, who, this pastor says, advised readers to wake up every day thankful that they are alive, able to think and help and do things for people. I agree with that and that instead of focusing on all one’s health problems, and all the things about society and politics we don’t like, we should focus on the things we can do and change in the world. In most of our cases, we can’t change things, but we can change our attitude. I also understand that optimistic people live longer.

Well, have a great Thanksgiving week. I’m doing a talk-back session with an 8-senior center group in Ohio today at 1:00. I’m very thankful that I can do something for people so far away from me.
